Catherine House has been providing emergency and transitional accommodation for South Australian women seeking safe and secure housing, since 1988. In 2021, Catherine House operated three congregate-style multi-resident properties, and this emergency ‘share’ accommodation no longer met contemporary expectations, nor did it optimise the contemporary services delivery approach followed by Catherine House. Bower Insights resources were engaged to provide economic advisory services to support the case for the redevelopment of Catherine House into a single site ‘New Generation’ service. The key deliverable for this project was the development of an evidence-based Business Case to support funding requests to the State and Federal Governments.
The Business Case supported the successful procurement of funding, obtained through State and Federal governments. With this funding, the redevelopment of Catherine House commenced in 2025. This will deliver 20 crisis accommodation dwellings, 32 social housing apartments, and a dedicated Women’s Centre.
